The weather is currently looking dry but cold, ensure you dress for the conditions.

Expect at least ankle deep mud in the following places: Up through field near St Catherine’s Lighthouse, Roud, Bagwich Bog and most of Parkhurst Forest.

Please learn the route, get it in your brain, save to phone, install free ‘Footpath App’ and enable your location on mobile.

The Southern Vectis No.6 bus service will be leaving Newport Bus Station at 8:50am and 10:50am.
They should arrive at The Buddle at 9:30am and 11:30am respectively.

Saturday No.6 – Newport to Ventnor Time Table | Southern Vectis

Walkers and slower runners should get the 8:50am bus from Newport or start from The Buddle between 9:30-10am.
Plan to finish no later than 4:30pm (upto 7 hours)

All other runners should get the 10:50am bus from Newport or start from The Buddle at 11:30am or before!
Plan to finish no later than 4:30pm (upto 5 hours)

Once you reach Egypt Point (well done), either make your way towards Cowes and a pub (nearest is The Union) or the bus station or go home.

If required, public buses run through Niton (6), Whitwell (6), Chillerton (6), Bowcombe (12), Blacksmiths (7), Forest Road (7), Northwood (1) and Cowes (1).

I will be starting at 11:30am and running with the faster runners (not walkers and slower runners, they should have started at 9:30am or sometime between depending on their pace). I will be running (backmarking) with the last person (who starts at 11:30am) those ahead of me MUST know the route. If I catch up with someone, I will then stick with them, until I catchup with the next person, etc).

Depending what time you start, the Buddle Inn (and their toilets) might NOT be open! The White Horse, Chequers and Blacksmiths should be open as normal to the public.

Don’t forget: clothes, socks, shoes, cash/cards, fully charged mobile phone, tissues, rubbish bag, drink and food! When you finish, you will be tired, cold and have wet and muddy socks and shoes!

ENSURE YOU FOLLOW THE COUNTRYSIDE CODE, CLOSE GATES BEHIND YOU AND DON’T DROP ANY LITTER (CARRY WITH YOU UNTIL YOU FIND A BIN)!
